LD Plumbing and Heating has a rich history rooted in innovation and adaptability. Founded in 1992 by Morris Soer, the company initially specialized in the removal and environmental remediation of underground oil tanks, serving the mid-island community with integrity and expertise.
As Vancouver Island embraced the introduction of natural gas, LD Plumbing and Heating recognized an opportunity for expansion and evolution. Anticipating the changing needs of its customers, the company pivoted its focus to include services related to the removal of home heating systems run on oil and the installation of natural gas alternatives, including furnaces, fireplaces, and hot water tanks. With the emergence of new heat pump technology, LD Plumbing and Heating has expanded its expertise to include heating and cooling solutions.

Ben Soer - GM
Ben Soer, the owner's son, has worked periodically with his father, Morris Soer, since the company began in 1992.
A registered nurse for 10 years, Ben has left the nursing profession to join the family business. Ben has years of familiarity with residential heating, cooling, plumbing and electrical needs of our customer base. His nursing career honed many skill sets, including the importance of patient satisfaction, troubleshooting, problem solving, and working within a team.
As General Manager, Ben leads by example; completing work with a high level of detail and accuracy while maintaining a positive work environment. The ultimate goal is to have all LD employees perform at their best, taking pride in their workmanship and ensuring customer satisfaction as our number one priority.
Harman - Plumber & Gas Fitter
Harman is a skilled plumber and gas fitter based in Vancouver Island. He embarked on his journey in the plumbing industry as an apprentice with LD Plumbing where he honed his craft and dedication to excellence. In 2022, he proudly earned his Red Seal certification, marking a significant milestone in his career.
Outside of work, Harman finds solace and adventure in exploring the natural beauty of Vancouver Island. He is an avid outdoor enthusiast, often found hiking scenic trails, kayaking along picturesque shores, and cherishing moments with his beloved family.
With a strong work ethic and a passion for both his profession and the great outdoors, Harman continues to make a positive impact in his community and beyond.
Kennedy - HVAC Apprentice
Kennedy is an HVAC apprentice.
She recently graduated from the Women in Trades program at VIU and is very grateful and excited to learn the HVAC trade from the well-experienced industry professionals in her department.
Tim Godau - Plumbing & Gas
Tim Godau is a well-known local in the mid-Island, a Saltair resident for 22 years. He has been the Plumbing & Heating Manager with us for 17 years, is a Red Seal Plumber, and a Certified Commercial/Residential Gas Fitter.
Tim trains and supervises all the plumbing and gas fitting apprentices. In addition, he is known as our natural gas fireplace specialist; with his extensive and versatile knowledge, there is not a unit he cannot tackle.
Mark Bellingham - Manager HVAC
Mark is HVAC Manager with 15+ years in HVAC, a Journeyman Red-Seal HVAC, TSBC B-Gas Fitter, with a TSBC Electrical Endorsement for Refrigeration.
We sell Bryant, Fujitsu and Lifebreath equipment and service most other brands of heat pumps, air handlers, ductless heat pumps, HRVs, gas furnaces, electric furnaces.
Tony - HVAC
Tony was born and raised in Saskatoon. He always loved working with his hands and HVAC is something he loves.
With 11 years experience installing heat pumps, furnaces, and ductless systems, he’s never afraid to help the plumbers or gas fitters as well.
He and his wife reside in Chemainus. You may see them riding around on their 3-wheeled motorcycles. GO RIDERS!
Dave - Electrician
Dave has been a trusted part of our team for over a decade, bringing 20 years of electrical experience to every project he tackles. As a Red Seal Ticketed Electrician, he specializes in both residential and commercial electrical installations, repairs, and upgrades.
From complex wiring systems to lighting design and EV charger installations, Dave’s expertise ensures every job is done safely and efficiently. Known for his meticulous work and problem-solving skills, he’s the go-to person for troubleshooting even the most challenging electrical issues.
A Ladysmith local, Dave enjoys spending his weekends outdoors, hiking with his family or tinkering on home projects.
